We need to retire Jack-in-the-Box style communications
It hurts us as conservatives - it's not really who we are
Conservatives don’t have a belief, value or depth of message problem.
We have beliefs - check!
We are passionate about why we are here - check!
We care about others and have a vision for a better future - check!
We have a short and long term communication problem. We are not good at consistency, simple messaging, or public relations. We are in essence like a toy that makes a toddler jump.
We pop up like “Jack-in-the-box” whenever the campaign manager cranks the wheel. We try to cobble together the right email list. We pull from data that may or may not be current. We pepper people with irrelevant text messages. We disengage with our public on social media whenever they ask questions on our posts.
We are the Jack-in-the-Box who appears when we need something but when we are done we forget about the people on the other end who would actually benefit from ongoing communication from us. We go back into our caves when the project is over. We appear when we “must” but sometimes it feels like…
