Note: This is a previous post but given the bizarre activities on the state and national level, it might be a good time for us all to better understand what it means to run for office and what you need to know before you get there.

America needs more good men and women who are informed, equipped, and ready to step up to the plate to run for office when the time comes. But first, we need people who are open to considering it.

Sometimes before you can say yes (or no) you have to know what it would entail. Hopefully this piece will help with your process. After 20 years in politics, I can tell you it is more often that candidates fail than that they succeed.

Don’t rush into choosing to run for office. Count the cost. Count all the costs. And make sure your family counts the cost with you.
