Amy your points are all good and lead to authentic and persuasive communications. Like all good marketing communications strategies - we need to define and truly understand our target audience. We need to understand their values, beliefs, and behaviors. Then we much know how to deliver our message and intentions so as to motivate understanding, and buy-in in the form of support and action from this audience.
